Medical Surgical Nursing Department

Medical Surgical Nursing Department of the college caters  to the learning needs of B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing students on various subjects i.e. Foundations of  Nursing ,Medical Nursing, Surgical Nursing ,Medical Surgical Nursing II(Advanced) ,Advanced Nursing Practice ,Medical Surgical Nursing of PG programme. The faculty members  impart knowledge to students regarding the various aspects of medical and surgical conditions of adults. The students obtain clinical experience from the medical and surgical areas(Wards ,ICU,OT,OP) of T.D. Medical College Hospital, Alappuzha.     

Community Health Nursing

Community Health Nursing speciality orients students to the concept of positive health and successful living and focuses on the families in the community and population groups with health problems. The students  solve health problems in the community through innovative and cost effective strategies of primary health care. The practical experience is provided in community health training centres (Chettikad),Urban health centre (Ambalappuzha) and in the adopted villages of Chettikad  Panchayat in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine,T.D.Medical college,Alappuzha. The experience include opportunities for participation in various National Health Programmes and guided observation visits to various locations of public health  importance.The department regularly organise health surveys, epidemiological investigations, health projects ,mass campaigns, home visits ,family health care programmes ,school health  programmes, special clinics etc. in the adopted villages.

Child health Nursing Department

Child Health Nursing speciality is meant for equipping the students to provide competent and comprehensive promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative nursing care to children in accordance with the nursing process approach which is essentially family centered ,atraumatic and cost effective. In Child Health Nursing , 3rd year B.Sc. nursing students  are introduced to the normal and abnormal growth and development of the foetus, newborn, infants, toddler, Pre-schooler, schooler and  adolescent. The faculty of Child Health Nursing department strives to impart the knowledge, skill and attitude through a variety of classroom and clinical teaching methods

Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing Department

Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing speciality is meant for equipping the students to provide comprehensive nursing care to antenatal, intranatal and postnatal mothers and women with various gynaecological conditions in different settings .

Mental Health Nursing department

Mental Health Nursing department is committed to provide high quality learning  experiences for students in mental health nursing to provide comprehensive care to the patients . Students are given practical experience in Psychiatric inpatient settings of  T.D. Medical College, which provides drug therapy, psychological therapy, social and family therapy. We have a self help group ‘MANASA’ which is co-ordinated by college of nursing faculty members and students
